Founders Legacy Society Luncheon
Annually, the Hellenic College Holy Cross Founders Legacy Society welcomes its living members to the campus for Divine Liturgy and a recognition luncheon to thank and enjoy fellowship with the school’s benefactors who have included HCHC in their planned giving. This gives them the opportunity to experience firsthand the beautiful HCHC community of higher learning.
The Society also remembered in prayer, its members who have fallen asleep in the Lord in the prior year:
Irene Christopher, James C. Collias, Photine C. Collias, James F. Cosakis, Howard Cramer, Themis Cramer, Charles P. Dickson, Anne Dickson, Spyro J. Gellos, Alcibiades G. Haris, Janet Harris Christine Johnides, James Karantzis, Stevia Karras, Costas Maroulis, Myrtle Maroulis, Jane Papathakos, James Petsas, Nicholas Senopoulos, Freda Soter, Fr. Milton Stamatos, G. John Svolos, Dorothy A. Syriopoulos, Basil Theofilis, Helen Theofilis, Kirk G. Troy, Frederick Valergakis, and Harry Zaras.
In his remarks, at the luncheon, Dr. Demetrios Katos, President of HCHC said: “I’m so glad that you came to visit campus. I want you to see where our students are forged into servant leaders and to worship with us in the chapel that inspires us to live the life of Christ. By visiting today, I hope you can envision the impact of your future gift. More importantly, I hope your visit helps you grasp why we are engaged together in this critical enterprise: to transform the lives of our students and those whom they will serve.”
His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America offered moving remarks to the Legacy Society members, saying: “Your membership in the Hellenic College Holy Cross Founders Legacy Society is as visionary as it is necessary for the future of our precious schole. You are all invaluable participants in a movement that will redound to the prosperity of this institution – perhaps in ways we cannot even conceive of in this present moment… When we inaugurated this Society back in March of 2023, I shared a proverb with you: ‘Blessed are they who plant trees under whose shade they will never sit.’ I would expand this elegant saying to include the following: and ‘blessed are those who plant trees whose fruits they may never taste.’ For your commitment to Hellenic College and Holy Cross will undoubtedly yield harvests of spiritual, academic, and institutional fruits in the future. And I pray that you will all have at least a glimpse of this harvest – to behold the flowering, budding, and fruiting of the Legacy Trees that you have planted.”
Archbishop Elpidophoros also presented each member of the Legacy Society with a beautiful lapel pin.
